Halldorr never did get his warm hearth and plump wife. Each time he came close, Odin, Providence, or Glooskap saw fit to change his path.
Older now, feeling no wiser, he finds himself in the midst of a new people, the Beiuthook, a captive demeaned to the point of performing the drudgery of the village women. But he has fought, bled, and killed in a life thrust upon him. His mind has adapted to his lot so that he now longs for the adventure and camaraderie of war.
The Beiuthook have forever struggled against their more numerous rivals, the Mi’kmaq. Halldorr arrives at a time when tensions are high with a new, aggressive sachem controlling the opponents of the Beiuthook.
Will Halldorr’s experience on the killing fields and aboard the pounding longboats see that he is returned to a place of honor among men? Or, will he toil his life away in chaste misery mindlessly scraping at the hide of someone else’s kill.
Norseman Chief is the final installment of The Norseman Chronicles, each of which detail the heroic life of Halldorr from the icy fjords of Greenland, to sweeping battlefields in England, and now to the foreign shores of Vinland and beyond in what he calls the merki.

After reading all of Jack London's books on Amazon (all fabulous 5*), I'm now downloading everything Viking. I love books that have adventure, danger, a little sex maybe. In some of the Viking books the descriptions of the big lusty women and their freedom to "do it" with any male (whether they want to or not) is hysterical! I am a 69 year old widow woman, and think it is peculiar that I like these fast moving adventure stories. Of course I love Tom Wolfe, Robert Ludlum, and John Grisham, and Patrick Robinson's hair raising submarine adventures, but I have many in hard copy and they are not in the 0-$2.99 price range I'm finding in Kindle. If anyone has a suggestion for good adventure authors on Kindle books, let me know! Thanks in advance!

Norseman Chief The Norseman Chronicles Book 3 edition by Jason Born Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I have been critical of the first 2 books regarding lengthy descriptive paragraphs but found this third book enjoyable and tightly written. I was surprised that I became so captivated, it was over before I realized!
This is the last of the three books of the Norseman Chronicles, and probably my least favorite, as it seems like Mr. Born was struggling for ideas on how to end the series. But, if you've read the previous two, you will HAVE TO read this one to see how the saga ends.

Mr. Born's writing continues to be very well executed, and the editing is well above average for an e-book. The story is fast paced and the characters are engaging, so, all in all, it's a fitting end to the saga.
I enjoyed all three books of the Norseman Chronicles very much. The writing, pacing, story, characters, the nice human touches were all enjoyable for me.
You should like this book is you If you think you'd like historical fiction and viking adventure told with plenty of action and yet told with a certain tenderness (At least what approaches tenderness. Halldor is bloody viking warrior after all.) If you've already read the first two books and enjoyed them I know you'll like this one too.
This is my 3rd book by this author. I am a fan of history and this is a new look at Viking history and some events I was unaware of. Based on some historical facts surrounded by a continuation of the main characters portrayed in this series and adding in new characters and events to keep the story flowing, I found this an interesting book and will read the next book in the series.
I liked this the 3rd and final book of the series. He is wise and its kinda sad how life goes on and the strong powerful man he was is also gone as time marches on. At the end you feel satisfied although wishing the world could have known what a unique person Halldor was. The references to history and factual data makes it even better. Enjoyed the whole series a lot. For all Viking, Norse lovers or those who have never read much about the way of life of the norsemen, highly recommend this series.
The final instillation in the Norseman Chronicles .
For those interested in Viking / Scandinavian history, includes England ,Iceland, Greenland,Ireland,Newfoundland ,Canada .North American Indian.
The only thing i don't like about this trilogy ("Saga") is that it concludes.!
Research sourced and adapted from Viking Sagas, and recent archaeological discoveries.
Solid research , great story telling , vivid imagery, tension , tragedy and triumph.
Suitable for adults as has graphic violence and various situations inappropriate for young readers as the period and subject would hopefully suggest.
From a purely "storytelling" point of view it could rate 6 stars, there are some typos and edit issues occasionally , that don't bother me in the slightest for obvious reasons !
Well written book series based solidly in the original oral and written histories. The writing is much higher quality than is typical of the current "cheap for " books, and I look forward to other similar work this author does. I appreciate the way Born has tried to get the reader to understand the cultural drivers for actions, and the difference between growing up/living in a set of societies where there is a wider acceptance of different belief structures than there is today (at least in American/European society). That's hard to do convincingly, and I think he's done it.
